Parley Committees ecstatic about tourist boom at unfinished Goshen City

The MPs' visit, intended to appreciate the project's progress, coincided with the arrival of over 2100 religious tourists from all over the world to witness the city's construction process.

Malawi: Members of Parliament who visited Goshen City on Saturday expressed excitement about the number of tourists who have visited the construction site even before the first phase is completed in December 2022, writes Watipaso Mzungu.

The MPs' visit, intended to appreciate the project's progress, coincided with the arrival of over 2100 religious tourists from all over the world to witness the city's construction process.

Simplex Chithyola Banda, the chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Industry, Trade, and Tourism, told the media during a tour of the project that the MPs are astounded by the level of global interest in the project.

"We are shocked, but also reminded of the project's importance and magnitude," he said.

The project's visionary Prophet Bushiri thanked parliament for the visit, saying it exemplifies Malawians' trust and interest in the project.

He went on to say that the number of people moving to the city is increasing with each passing year, which he finds quite encouraging

Transportation and Public Infrastructure, as well as Local Authorities and Rural Development, were among the committees that attended the visit.

The parliamentary team also included the Deputy Clerk of Parliament.
