Passport issuance system down in Malawi

Malawi: The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services says its passport issuance system is currently down due to technical difficulties.

Wellington Chiponde, the National Public Relations Officer for Immigration and Citizenship Services, has confirmed that they are experiencing technical difficulties and will be unable to process and print passports.

"We are truly assuring the general public that the matter is receiving urgent attention, and it will keep the public informed once all technical issues have been fully addressed," he said.

He went on to say that the technical hiccup had affected all printing services in all regions.

“The department apologises for any inconvenience this may have caused and is eager to get to work on it as soon as possible,” he said.
