Perform, or you'll get fired: Ms Colleen Zamba warns MW civil servants
Ms Zamba fired the warning after taking the Oath of Office and Allegiance at Kamuzu Palace on Friday, June 3, 2022.
Malawi: Newly-appointed Secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC), Ms Colleen Zamba, has warned that those civil servants who refuse to change or fail to meet their targets will be fired because they are unfit for the job.
Ms Zamba fired the warning after taking the Oath of Office and Allegiance at Kamuzu Palace on Friday, June 3, 2022.
"I will set targets with Permanent Secretaries every quarter which will be reviewed together because it is not worth it to keep somebody who is not doing anything when my job is to make sure that the president's agenda is delivered,” she said
Ms Zamba stated that Malawians should expect a lot from her, particularly the realignment of the Civil Service to the president's version of jobs, wealth creation, and food security, as well as ensuring the optimal use of resources, both human and financial.
President Lazarus Chakwera stated that being an SPC is a huge task and a position of public trust that requires great courage, humility, and honesty.
The president appointed Ms Zamba as SPC on May 31, 2022, succeeding Zanga-Zanga Chikhosi.
