Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Killing Wife
Man arrested for killing wife, three in custody for suspected stolen medical equipment at Balaka Hospital, writes Ousman Kaliati.
Malawi - Balaka Police have arrested a 42-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife, and are also holding three people in custody for allegedly being found in possession of medical equipment suspected to have been stolen at Balaka District Hospital, writes Ousman Kaliati.
According to Balaka Police deputy publicity office, Surgent Mphatso Munthali, the murder suspect was identified as George Lucias, aged 42, who hails from Nsomo village in traditional authority Nkaya in the district. He allegedly killed his wife, Kasanaro Supuni, aged 27, last night while attempting to escape.
Meanwhile, Officer-In-Charge for Balaka police station, Senior Superintendent Dan Sauten, confirmed the arrest of three people suspected of stealing medical equipment from the district's main hospital.
The suspects are identified as Ester Chilunga, a businesswoman aged 34, George Kachere, a stores clerk aged 42, and Davie Witmos, a driver aged 72.
As investigations by the police are still underway, all suspects will appear before a court of law soon.
