Police drill church members in crime prevention in Chikwawa

Malawi: Chikwawa Police have challenged church members to set a good example by exercising their holiness in preventing various criminal activities.

This was revealed at the Mfera Community Day secondary school hall, where Church of Babatist members gathered for three days of worship.

In his remarks, Officer Incharge Chikwawa Police Station Alex Simenti, Assistant Commissioner of Police, urged all churchgoers to refrain from bad behaviour that could land them in jail.

Simenti condemned those who might break the law.

"It's concerning that many of those who engage in criminal activities are so-called believers, so we as police have decided to develop these crime prevention massages in the hope that sanity will prevail in various communities," said Simenti.

Wyson Maluwa, the patron of the Baptist Church responsible for the Southern Region, has praised the police for civic-educating church members in crime prevention, which will promote peace and stability in society.

Police, on the other hand, assure that they will continue to work with faith or religious people to raise crime prevention awareness.
