Police find unknown male pedestrian dead on Nkhata Bay-Mzuzu M5 road
Meanwhile, police have opened an investigation into a hit-and-run car accident.
Malawi: An unknown male pedestrian has been discovered dead in the middle of the Nkhata-Bay-Mzuzu M5 in the Kalambwe area, 2 kilometres from Nkhata Bay Boma.
Sergeant Kondwani James, a spokesman for Nkhata-Bay Police, confirmed this to AfricaBrief, saying the body was discovered in the early hours of August 31, 2022.
Meanwhile, police have opened an investigation into a hit-and-run car accident.
According to preliminary investigation, the pedestrian was drunk and staggered into the road before being run over by a speeding vehicle that the police have yet to identify.
The pedestrian was rushed to Nkhata-Bay District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after suffering head injuries and multiple fractures in both legs.
The body is being held in the morgue of the same hospital while relatives identify it.
Meanwhile, police are urging the public to contact the nearest police station or visit the Nkhata-Bay District Hospital Mortuary if they are missing a relative.
