Prescane company donates security equipment to CPFs
The donation included 50 reflective jackets, 50 whistles, and 15 torches worth K2 million.
Malawi: Prescane Company, an ethanol manufacturer, has donated community policing materials to members of Traditional Authority Katunga in Chikwawa in an effort to combat crime.
Speaking on Monday at the handover of the equipment at Dyeratu Primary School, the company's human resources manager, Francis Mindolo, said the company has a responsibility to look after security issues in the area, so it decided to dress up the community policing members surrounding its company, namely Sadulo, Lauji, Sumaili, Mwita, and Salumeji, with security materials.
"As a company, we are responsible for issues of security within our territory for the betterment of our materials to prevent theft, which may benefit not only Prescane Company but also Villagers in general," Mindolo said.
During the ceremony, Senior Group Village Headman Sadulo commended the police for enlisting Prescane's assistance through the community policing department.
Norman Chagambatuka, the chairperson for community policing under Traditional Authority Katunga, said the donation came at the right time and will motivate the members.
He then urged them to use the materials for the intended purpose of reducing crime in society.
Assistant Superintendent Kingsley Mvuthe, the community policing coordinator for Chikwawa Police Station, praised Prescane for the donation and urged them to do more in other areas.
The donation included 50 reflective jackets, 50 whistles, and 15 torches worth K2 million.
