ProVoice Reflects on Seven Months Following Martse's Death

Malawi: The heart-gripping news of the death of legendary hip hop artist Martse caused tears to flow among Malawians, writes Thokozani Beaton.

The award-winning icon succumbed to fire burns on May 23, 2022, at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, where he was briefly admitted following a fire accident.

Artists, music fans, politicians, and others all learned with great sadness of the demise of the youthful 28-year-old Martin Nkhata, also known as Martse.

In winding up the year, AfricaBrief's 'Entertainment Trail' segment caught up with one of Martse's close music allies to find out how they have been coping without 'Too Ghetto Too Gutter' behind the euphoric brand.

ProVoice, born Lameck Mwenebanda, is one of the artists who worked closely with Martse and considers him a close friend.

He shared his experience of the past seven months since the Malawian rapper's passing. '

‘It has been a rollercoaster year for me,' says ProVoice.

The dancehall artist, who narrowly escaped a road accident a few days ago, also thanked all the people who provided financial support for Martse's initiatives, including the Martse Foundation.

'I thank Malawians for the massive support shown to our brother Martse during the funeral and after. I urge them to continue with their support towards Martse's dream because it is what Martse wanted to see realized,' said ProVoice.

The artist has just released an Extended Playlist EP called Michiru View Boys, which features some songs with Martse.
