SOUTH AFRICA: President Cyril Ramaphosa led the government's engagement with the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on Sunday, 15 May 2022, in eThekwini.
The meeting was held in response to the Chamber's request to meet with the President to discuss a number of identified challenges affecting the province's business community.
The meeting has been requested by the Office of the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Mr Sihle Zikalala, and follows a meeting on April 29, 2022, between the Premier and the Mayor of eThekwini, as well as the KZN Growth Coalition and the Durban Chamber of Commerce.
Sunday's meeting serves as a forum for collaboration among the three branches of government and the private sector in developing a strategy to help the KwaZulu-Natal business sector recover from events that have harmed the provincial economy.
The meeting included the Ministers of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Water and Sanitation, Safety and Security, Public Enterprises, Environmental Affairs, Public Works and Infrastructure, Transport, and the Deputy Ministers of Police and Justice.
