Rumphi Launches 62 Million Kwacha Youth Resource Center Project
In addition, the centre will offer access to counselling, a long-standing need in the region due to the high rate of early pregnancies.
Malawi: Rumphi district council has started work on a 62 million kwacha Youth Resource Center project, Wezzie Mwangonde reports.
Youth issues like early pregnancies and school dropouts are the focus of the project.
Ipyana Mnthali, the district youth officer, stated that the centre will provide a range of activities, such as vocational skills training, to keep the youth interested.
Mnthali said: " However, the available funds are only for construction, and we are appealing for support from NGOs and well-wishers to provide additional resources."
The project is welcomed by Mackson Ngulube, the chair of Rumphi Youth Hub, who claims it will lower risky behaviours like drinking and suicide.
In addition, the centre will offer access to counselling, a long-standing need in the region due to the high rate of early pregnancies.
The Government to Enable Service Delivery project, funded by the World Bank and the government of Malawi, is responsible for the project's funding.
Within 90 days is when the project is anticipated to be finished.
