When the charitable organization SOS Children’s Villages was introducing an education initiative for vulnerable children in Mzuzu, little did the organization realize that the move would be literally rescuing needy students escape from the jaws of poverty.
In a bid to support the country’s children get the much-needed education, the organization over the years been bailing out needy students from LUJESO CBO at Chiputula in Mzuzu.
One of the beneficiaries of the education initiative is Richard Banda who has now managed to become an agriculturalist, after undergoing training at Mwimba College of Agriculture in Kasungu.
“Through the education initiative, SOS Children’s Villages provided me with tuition fees and learning materials in the year 2016. This was the charitable organization identified by our family as one of the vulnerable at LUJESO CBO at Chiputula,” Banda said.
“My grandmother was looking after me and she could not meet our needs, let alone pay school fees for us.”
Banda has hailed the SOS Children’s Villages for helping him achieve his goals and become self-reliant.
