We speak to an expert in "following the money" investigative journalism, Miranda Patrucic

The 18th African Investigative Journalism Conference, held at Wits University in South Africa from October 31 to November 2, 2022, drew over 200 participants, mostly from the African continent.

Journalists from all over the world attended the event as well.

At the event, AfricaBrief Editor-in-Chief Winston Mwale spoke with Bosnian Miranda Patrucic, deputy editor-in-chief for regional stories and Central Asia for the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, who was there as a trainer.

Miranda, who worked on the award-winning Plunder and Patronage in the Heart of Central Asia and The Matraimov Kingdom series of stories, which sparked protests that eventually brought down a government in Kyrgyzstan, explains how she got started as a journalist as well as a journalism trainer, focusing on following the money, in this exclusive interview.
