Speakers, deputy speakers convene in South Korea to address pressing issues

Malawi: Speakers and deputy speakers from various African countries, including Malawi, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Mali, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, to name a few, met in the Republic of South Korea to discuss issues affecting their respective countries.

The meeting's main goal was to strengthen bilateral relationships between South Korean and African parliaments.

In an interview with AfricaBrief, Malawi's deputy Speaker, Hon Madalitso Kazombo, stated that the meeting was extremely beneficial, particularly to Malawi.

"We discussed a lot of issues at the Korean Parliament, and as one way of submission from Malawi, we thanked the Korean government for the invitation, and we requested support for scholarships for our boys and girls in Malawi because Korea is doing good to part of Education," he said.

Kazombo also stated that because Malawi only has one ministry for digitisation, we requested additional support in the form of tablets and laptops to aid in virtual meetings during pandemics such as Covid-19.

The Republic of South Korea sponsored the entire trip to South Korea, including tickets and lodging.
