Student Found Dead at Euthini Secondary School in Mzimba, Causes Point to Suicide

Police reports indicate that Mjima had been struggling with health issues since starting school, and he left a suicide note expressing his struggles.

Malawi: Euthini Secondary School in Mzimba was rocked by tragedy when 22-year-old student Samuel Jonathan Mjima was found hanged to a tree a few meters from the school's grounds on Saturday night, writes Blessings Gondwe.

Police reports indicate that Mjima had been struggling with health issues since starting school, and he left a suicide note expressing his struggles.

The incident has raised concerns about the mental and emotional well-being of students in the area.

Mzimba police spokesman Peter Botha advises students and anyone who may be feeling overwhelmed or stressed to seek help instead of taking their own lives.

Euthini Police, accompanied by medical personnel, responded to the scene and conducted a post-mortem, which revealed the cause of death as suffocation secondary to strangulation.

The authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.
