Malawi: At a meeting of the SVMC Chikwawa Chapter on December 23, 2022, members were reminded about the ongoing process of online polling for the approval of various developments, writes Comfort Bulangete.
Leah Malimbasa (DIO), Dan Chisoni, and Masozi Kasambala were tasked with approaching Steve Chirombo, the board chairperson, to remind him of the polling process and to ensure that elections are held as soon as possible.
Dan will be responsible for facilitating the online polling process.
In addition to discussing the polling process, the meeting also addressed issues of unethical media conduct.
It was stressed that members should refrain from begging sources for stories and from accepting money from politicians in exchange for publication.
The use of ghost workers to share allowances and the practice of plundering allowances from junior members were also condemned.
The meeting emphasized the importance of dressing appropriately for events and treating interns fairly.
The meeting agreed that any members found to be engaging in these unethical behaviours would be called to a disciplinary hearing.
