MALAWI: A teacher from Mzimba South's Kamalambo Primary School has committed suicide.

Salome Chibwe, the deceased, reportedly went insane on Sunday but was referred to a reverend for prayers, and her health improved.

On Monday morning, however, she was discovered hanging in her bedroom in a home she shared with family members, including her ailing father.

She was transported to Jenda Health Centre, where she was pronounced dead as a result of suffocation caused by strangulation.

Chibwe, 54, was from Nkhuniwawo Shaba Village in the same district's Traditional Authority Mzukuzuku, and she will be laid to rest on Wednesday.
