Malawi-Teen Missions Malawi, an inter-denominational organization with its headquarters in Salima, has donated relief items to people at Mlaka CBCC camp in Nthumba Village, Nsanje, in response to the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Freddy, which displaced numerous households in the area, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
The donated items, which included bags of maize, soya pieces, cooking oil, soap, clothes, and blankets, as well as 500 water buckets, were aimed at alleviating some of the problems faced by those affected by the cyclone.
Micius Tsukani, Country Coordinator for Teen Missions Malawi, emphasized the importance of the donation, stating, "The donation is very important for the people who have been affected by the devastating cyclone Freddy, and we decided to join other partners who have already been doing good work."
One of the beneficiaries, Steria Juwaki, expressed gratitude for the timely donation from Teen Missions and called on other stakeholders to emulate their example.
Tropical Cyclone Freddy has caused damage to crop fields, infrastructure, and the lives of people in the affected area.
Teen Missions Malawi has several bases in Nsanje, Rumphi, and Mangochi, in addition to its headquarters in Salima.
