Teen Missions Malawi Encourages Communities to Plant Trees for Climate Change Resilience

Malawi: Teen Missions Malawi has encouraged communities to plant trees and maintain their relationship with the environment in order to increase their resilience to drought and other climate-related challenges, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
During a tree planting event at Mikunju village in Salima, Teen Missions Country Coordinator, Mr. Micius Tsukani, said that planting natural trees will help to replace those that have been destroyed and mitigate climate change problems in the community.
"During this tree planting exercise, we have acquired a lot of seedlings from another organization in Dedza and we are going to plant both fruit and natural trees. We are encouraging the communities to continue planting more trees," said Tsukani.
The village headman expressed gratitude to Teen Missions for providing the community with seedlings for both fruit and natural trees, which he said will help them replace trees that have been destroyed due to a lack of knowledge about the importance of trees.
