TEVETA urges Malawians to prioritize Malawian certificates

Malawi: The Technical, Entrepreneurial, and Vocational Education and Training (TEVET), which has three qualifications, the trade test offered by the ministry of labour, Malawi craft offered by MANEB, and CBET offered by the TEVET authority, held a preliminary on September 21st at the Mzuzu hotel with various companies.

The main goal was to persuade them, as well as Malawians, to use the Malawi certificate.

Elwin Sichiola, Executive Director of TEVET, told AfricaBrief that companies need to hire those from technical colleges.

"We are encouraging them because we want to develop those from technical colleges and promote the phrase "buy Malawian products," he said.

Many prefer foreign examining bodies, but if we say no, let's develop and promote Malawi's certificates.

Chifundo Ludzeni, the deputy director of technical vocational at the Ministry of Labour, stated that they are pleased to have Tevata as the regulatory body that examines the entire examination process.

Temwa Msowoya, one of the participants, thanked Teveta for enlightening them with such vital information and assured Malawians that they will now employ technical students as well.
