Total registered voters for 10 November By-election
The Commission registered a total of 2,756 new voters in the three by-elections areas of which 1,517 are female and 1,262 are male. This brings to 93,534 the total number of registered voters.
The Malawi Electoral Commission is informing the general public that the registration and voter verification exercises for Karonga Central Constituency, Lilongwe North West Constituency and Makhwira Ward were conducted successfully from September 14 to 27, 2020.
The Commission registered a total of 2,756 new voters in the three by-elections areas of which 1,517 are female and 1,262 are male. This brings to 93,534 the total number of registered voters for the 10 November by-election. The summary of the registration figures according to ward and constituencies is as follows:

The general public is further informed that, during the voter register compilation exercise, the Commission has quarantined 53 of the new registrants (23 males and 30 females) in Lilongwe North West Constituency. This is because the National Registration Bureau (NRB) quarantined these registrants on suspicion that they were minors. No new registrants have been quarantined in Karonga Central Constituency and Makhwira South ward.
The quarantined names, although they were registered by MEC and were issued a voter certificate, will not vote on 10 November, 2020. Their names have not been added to the voters’ register and will appear in the Exceptions Report, appended to the voters’ register. The Exceptions Report bears the details of the quarantined names including photographs. The centres affected are as follows:
