Zimbabwean golfer Mapwanya wins Seed-Co Malawi Golf Championship
Mapwanya received a cash prize of $2,775 USD (over MK3 million) as well as a trophy.
Malawi: Visitor Mapwanya, a Zimbabwean professional golfer, was crowned champion of the Seed-Co Malawi open golf championship, which was held at Lilongwe Golf Club from November 22-25, 2022, after finishing with a gross score of 276. (-12).
The winner was followed by last year's champion, also from Zimbabwe, Robson Chihnoi, who finished second with a gross score of 277 (-11), Biggy Chibvundi from Ghana, and Paul Chidale from Malawi, who finished third with a gross score of 286.

Mapwanya expressed his delight at winning this year's Seed-Co golf tournament after the prize presentation on Friday at Lilongwe Golf Club.
When asked what his secret was to finishing first this year, the professional golfers said that he improved on his weak areas, which caused him to finish 11th in the previous year's competition.
As a result, he praised Seed-Co, Lilongwe Golf Club, and the Professional Golfers Association of Malawi (PGA-Mw), among others, for making this year's Seed-Co golf tournament possible.
The PGA-Mw President, General Henry Odillo (retired), described this year's Seed-Co golf tournament as a success in his remarks.
The Seed-Co Malawi open golf championship drew 40 professional golfers, with 16 from Zimbabwe, 13 from Malawi, eight from Zambia, and two from South Africa.
Officials from Lilongwe Golf Club, PGA-Mw, Seed-Co Malawi, and Seed-Co Zimbabwe, among others, attended the tournament's prize presentation.
Gift Kawamba, Commercial Director of Seed-Co Malawi, stated that his company is committed to supporting the game of golf in the country.
